Rockpress supports ABB with the manufacture, mechanical assembly, inspection and testing of traction converter cabinets for Queensland’s Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP). The project demonstrates Rockpress’s capability to manage highly complex assemblies involving more than 1,000 unique installed items, comprehensive quality verification and controlled functional testing prior to delivery.
Each traction converter cabinet brings together a substantial number of individual fabricated, machined and purchased components into a complete, production-ready assembly.
With over 1,000 unique items installed into each cabinet, maintaining accuracy, consistency and traceability throughout the build is critical. Components must be installed in the correct sequence and orientation, fasteners controlled to specified torque requirements, and critical systems assembled and tested in accordance with the defined build specification.
